A man has appeared in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court following a stabbing in Tennant Creek at the weekend.

Police were called to a disturbance at a residence in Caroline Street, Tennant Creek at around 11.30pm on Sunday night. When they arrived they found a man lying in the driveway with stab wounds to the neck and shoulder.

The 29-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to the Tennant Creek Hospital. The alleged offender, a 26-year-old man, had fled on foot by the time police arrived, but was arrested at his home in the early hours of Monday morning.

He was remanded in custody and appeared in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court charged with numerous offences including attempted murder.
