A woman is in custody and a man is in hospital following a stabbing in Alice Springs overnight.

Police received a report just before 4.30pm yesterday of a disturbance at a unit in Nicker Crescent. They found a 53-year-old male who had been stabbed to the head and face numerous times. Police arrested a 27-year-old woman in relation to the incident a short time later.

The man was taken to the Alice Springs Hospital where he remains in a satisfactory condition after treatment for multiple lacerations.

The alleged offender is expected to be interview today.
