A 22-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his wife six times at an Alice Springs town camp last night.

The 21-year-old victim was stabbed once in each shoulder, once in the upper leg, once in the back and twice in the head. Police received a report just before 9pm last night of a disturbance at Little Sisters Camp. The woman was taken to hospital and the alleged offender was arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with being armed with an offensive weapon and unlawfully causing serious harm. He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
