Skeletal remains located - Mandorah

Police

NT Police are currently at Mandorah after receiving a report of skeletal remains found at a local beach last night.

It is alleged two local men were crabbing near the Mandorah Hotel at about 7:00 pm, when they located the skull and skeletal remains in a sand bank.

Police are currently at the site and a crime scene has been established. The remains are to be examined by an anthropologist from the Aboriginal Area Protection Authority and at this point there is nothing to indicate the remains are linked to any suspicious activity.

If the remains are part of a traditional burial site then there will be no requirement for further police involvement and the remains will be reburied in consultation with Aboriginal Elders.

At this point in time, there is nothing to indicate that the skull is linked to any suspicious activity.
