Single Vehicle Rollover - Humpty Doo

Police

It is believed the Holden Crewman rolled one and a half times after the driver lost control of the vehicle when passing a road train heading in the opposite direction.

The vehicle landed on its roof beside the road approximately 15 kilometres from the Adelaide River Bridge.

The 25-year-old passenger was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with suspected spinal injuries and the 36-year-old driver for observation.

Police believe that alcohol was a contributing factor.

Sergeant Bruce Payne of Palmerston Police Station said people need to be more sensible about driving after drinking alcohol.

"It is completely unacceptable to put your life and the lives of others at risk by driving under the influence of alcohol.

"Rural residents can expect several random breath test stations in the area leading into the festive season in a bid to curb drunk drivers," he said.
