Single Vehicle rollover – Eva Valley Station

Police

Just after 6.15pm yesterday, Police at Maranboy were notified that a Toyota troop carrier had rolled-over near Eva Valley Station.

A 68 year-old male driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Police said he was lucky to escape serious injury when his vehicle hit a large patch of water and rolled on the Central Arnhem Road 20km north of Manyullaluk Community.

"In this incident, it appears the vehicle has hit a water hazard, and then aquaplaned causing the rear of the vehicle to slide out, and subsequently roll onto its side after hitting the dirt on the side of the road," said Superintendent Brent Warren.

The man was treated by staff from Barunga clinic and released.

Superintendent Brent Warren is reminding to drivers to take extra care on the roads with the current cyclonic conditions in the area.

"Drivers need to slow down on wet roads and drive to the conditions," he said.
