Police

Police, NT Fire and Rescue Service and Saint John Ambulance attended the scene and did not locate any person in the vehicle.

Police received another call shortly after the crash, from a residence in Mahony Circuit stating that a 16-year-old male had been hit by the vehicle. He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by ambulance where he remains in a stable condition, and has a fractured pelvis.
The vehicle has been seized and transported to the Peter McAulay Centre where it will be forensically examined this morning.

It is believed the vehicle involved in the crash, was earlier stolen from a residence in Gunn. The home appears to have been entered and the vehicle, a laptop and some other personal possessions were stolen.

Another unlawful entry at a home in Bakewell was reported to police at 1.45 am and appears to have been unlawfully entered by the same offender(s). A laptop, numerous personal possessions and a 'golden' baseball bat were stolen. The easily identifiable baseball bat was located inside the crashed vehicle.

Police believe these and recent similar crimes are related. It appears these two premises were not secure, police remind the public to ensure their premises are locked to minimise the risk of opportunistic crime.

Any one with information relating to these unlawful entries is urged to contact Police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
