Single Vehicle Accident - Litchfield Park

Police

A Care Flight Helicopter was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on the Litchfield Road earlier this afternoon at about 1.30 pm. Police, Fire and Rescue Service, St John Ambulance personnel, clinic staff and an off-duty doctor also attended the scene, approximately 25.5 kms from the turn off entrance to Litchfield National Park.

The vehicle in question sustained extensive damage and all occupants are extremely lucky to have escaped serious injury. Territory Duty Superintendent Debbie Smith again highlighted the need for road users to abide by the speed limit, wear seatbelts and not to operate a vehicle under the influence. "With this unseasonal weather it is imperative that motorists drive to the conditions and take particular caution in wet conditions." "The cause of this crash typically represents a driver driving without due care to the conditions with excess speed for wet road," she said. Batchelor Police are continuing investigations.
