The two males involved in the incident are believed to have been driving a silver coloured Toyota Landcruiser station wagon 100 Series with a silver bull bar similar to the one in the photo.

Police are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen a car similar to the one pictured with two Caucasian male occupants in their 20s in the vicinity of Junction Waterhole or the north Stuart Highway on Saturday, May 29, on Saturday to phone 131 444.

Detectives from the Regional Investigations Division have been investigating the incident in which a 44-year-old man was shot in the arm with a shotgun while he was camping with his female companion. The witness told police a car drove up to their campsite around 6.30pm on Saturday and after a short conversation the victim was shot and the offenders drove away.

Police immediately initiated traffic check points at all roads surrounding Alice Springs and a helicopter search was undertaken yesterday.

Police remind members of the public not to approach the offenders if they are sighted as they may still be armed. Anyone with information should call 000 immediately.
