The 80-year-old man which was involved in yesterday's shooting incident in Winnellie has now been charged.
The man has been charged with attempted murder, firearms offences and traffic offences.
He has been refused bail and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The victim remains in a stable condition receiving medical treatment at Royal Darwin Hospital.
Superintendent Jo Foley said police are still seeking witnesses who may have further information.
"Anyone who may have any information about the incident is urged to contact police on 131 444" she said.
