Sexual assault - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police are calling for public assistance after a woman was assaulted in her home last night.

It is believed the woman noticed the front gate at her Lyndvale Drive residence was open at about 2.30 am this morning. The 67-year-old victim went outside to shut her gate when she was approached by an unknown male who asked her for a glass of water before following her inside her house.

It is alleged the offender then threatened the victim with a knife and sexually assault her.

The offender is described as a male of Aboriginal appearance with short dark hair, in his 30's and 175 cms tall with a stocky build. He is alleged to have been wearing a light coloured baseball cap, fawn / beige coloured cargo type jacket, light coloured t-shirt and jeans.


Police urge any one who may have witnessed any suspicious activity on Lyndvale Street early this morning to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.



Duty Superintendent Daniel Shean said this was a brazen attack.



"We are calling on the public to assist apprehend this dangerous offender".
