A 15-year-old male is in custody and a 20-year-old man is in the Intensive Care Unit at the Alice Springs Hospital following an assault in Alice Springs overnight.

Police received a report of a disturbance in Musgrave Street Gillen just after 11.30pm last night.

When they arrived they found a man had been bashed unconscious during an argument involving several people. The man was taken to the Alice Springs Hospital where he underwent surgery last night. He remains in a critical condition with head injuries.

Police investigations have led to the arrest of a 15-year-old male who is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
