Police have two 16-year-old male youths in custody in relation to a stabbing incident that occurred in Alawa last night.

A call was received at the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre at approximately 8:45 pm stating that a 30-year-old male had received stab wounds at his home in Alawa Crescent.

It is alleged that the male, his 26-year-old partner and their four month old daughter returned to their home and whilst outside, were approached by two males who assaulted the victim.

The two alleged offenders then fled the scene towards Jingili and were later arrested after they reported to police that they had received injuries and also matched the descriptions provided by witnesses.

The male victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital having received numerous stab wounds to his back and side. He remains in a critical but stable condition.

Major Crime Detectives are investigating the matter and are expected to lay charges later today.
