Emergency Service personnel have located the body of a 63-year-old male who was reported missing in Kakadu on Friday night.

It is believed the man had gone on the Barrk Sand Stone, 12 kilometre walk with no water on Friday morning and did not return.

Members from NTES, Jabiru Police, Fire and Rescue personnel, park rangers and members from the Territory Response Section, conducted extensive searches of the area yesterday and continued at first light this morning.

Emergency Service members located the deceased man about three kilometres from the car park, off the walking track at about 10:00 am today.

Police will now prepare a file for the coroner.
