Robbery – Ti Tree - 4563284

Police

Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was robbed on the side of the Stuart Highway south of Ti Tree.

The 21-year-old victim told police she had been driving northbound on the Stuart Highway around 12.30pm on Sunday when she pulled over approximately 40 kilometres south of Ti Tree after feeling a shudder in the steering of the Toyota Hilux. She got out of the car and as she was inspecting the tyres a white Holden Commodore with two male occupants travelling in the opposite direction pulled up in front of her car.

The woman started to get back in her vehicle but one of the men got out of his car and grabbed hold of her driver's side door. The other man then also got out of the car and started rifling through the victim's vehicle. They grabbed an envelope containing almost $1000 cash, a laptop and approximately $500 from the victim's wallet. They then fled in their car and the woman drove herself to Ti Tree and reported the incident to police.

The two offenders are believed to be of Aboriginal appearance in their early 20s. One of them is thought to have been wearing a black shirt and one had a goatee beard.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was driving in the vicinity of the incident on Sunday. Anyone with information should phone Tennant creek Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
