A 23-year-old woman was assaulted and her bike stolen as she was riding along Gap Road, Alice Springs, on Saturday morning.

The victim told police she was riding to work at around 5.45am when she was approached by a male outside the All Seasons Oasis Hotel in Gap Road. The man allegedly grabbed her and demanded she hand over her bike. When she refused he kicked her in the leg until she handed over the bike. He then rode off south along Gap Road on the pink bicycle.

Police were called and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the assault to come forward. The offender is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, about 175cm tall and wearing a white hooded jacket.
