Robbery - Alice Springs

Police

Police are calling for any witnesses in relation to a robbery that occurred near Olive Pink Gardens in Alice Springs this morning.

It is alleged that at about 5.45 a.m. on Sunday 6th June, the 24-year-old male victim has been walking south along the Eastern side of the Todd River near Olive Pink Gardens when he was approached by a noisy, older vehicle that was silver / grey in colour.

It is alleged that the offender has got out of the vehicle and chased the victim to the intersection of Tunks Road and Barrett Drive where he was assaulted with a metal object and had his backpack stolen. It is believed the offender has subsequently got into his vehicle and left south down Barrett Drive.

The victim has ran to the CBD and contacted police and was then conveyed to the Alice Springs Hospital suffering a cut to his head.

The offender is described as a Caucasian male, possibly in his mid 20's, approximately 185cm tall with a skinny build, short dark brown hair and wearing a dark blue hooded jumper with a zip at the front.

Watch Commander Darrell Kerr said,"The incident appears to be totally unprovoked and police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed incident or have details of the vehicle or offender to contact Police on 131 444."

Police are also appealing to the female member of the public who attended the front counter of the Alice Springs Police station at 10am this morning with property she had located belonging to the victim to contact Police as soon as possible.
