Road offences overnight

Police would like to remind drivers to take care on roads and use common sense after two drink drivers and two crashes occurred in the Darwin and Rural areas overnight and this morning.

Thanks to members of the public contacting police, a 24-year-old female was located driving a white Ford Falcon in an erratic manner on the Stuart Highway in Darwin. She was apprehended by police and returned a reading of .277 percent .

A 31-year-old male was apprehended outside the Buff Club in Stuart Park at approximately 7:42 this morning, returning a reading of .194 percent.

Two separate crashes were also reported to have occurred in the Gunn Point Road area of Howard Springs.

It was reported to police at approximately 12:15 this morning that a 21-year-old male had been involved in a motorbike crash.

Police and St John Ambulance members attended the scene and conveyed him to Royal Darwin Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

It is believed that the male was not wearing a helmet at the time and whilst travelling along the beach, crashed into rocks.

Police, NT Fire and Rescue Service and St John Ambulance were alerted to a single bike crash 5kms into the bush off Gunn Point Road at approximately 11:15 am today.

The 50-year-old rider was riding with a group of 11 others and crashed due to boggy conditions. The rider was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital with a possible fractured leg.

Police continue to urge drivers, particularly those on motorbikes, to take care and be aware that members are out in force over the Easter long weekend and should you choose to disobey the law, you will be apprehended.
