Random Breath Test Stations

Police

Seventy-five drivers were randomly breath tested on Territory roads yesterday, with five men blowing over the legal limit.

A 19-year-old Tennant Creek man recorded the only high range reading during the blitz, blowing 0.169 per cent.

A further two men, aged 38 and 39 recorded medium range readings. The 38-year-old Hodgson Downs man recorded a reading of 0.135 per cent at Katherine, while the 39-year-old Wanguri man had a blood alcohol content of 0.102 per cent when he was pulled over at Fannie Bay.

A Tennant Creek man as well as a man from Knuckeys Lagoon, both 40-years-old, recorded low range readings. The Tennant Creek man blew a reading of 0.051. The Knuckeys Lagoon man recorded a reading of 0.097 per cent when he was breath tested at Yarrawonga.

All of the drivers will face court at a later date.

Territory Duty Superintendent Robert Burgoyne said drivers need to think before driving after having a drink.

"If you are planning on drinking, then don't drive; it's that simple.

"By not getting behind the wheel, you may be saving your life or the life of another," he said.
