It is alleged members attempted to stop the Mitsubishi Magna on the Arnhem Highway near Jabiru at about 10.30 am before the driver sped away.

Police members activated their lights and sirens and a pursuit was initiated along the Arnhem Highway onto Oenpelli Road where a second police vehicle joined the chase.

One adult and three juvenile passengers were conveyed to a nearby community by NT Police.

The offender has since been charged in relation to the following offences:

Fail to obey signal of member
Drive without an L plate
Fail to produce licence
Learner driver drive unaccompanied
Learner driver exceed 80 km/h
Exceed speed 15-30km/h (96km/h in 80km/h zone)
