Possible Drink Spiking - Darwin City

Police

NT Police are urging partygoers not to accept drinks from strangers after a number of reports of possible drink spiking in Darwin City overnight.

Police received three reports of drink spiking between 1230pm last night and 0300am this morning. It is alleged all of the incidents occurred at one nightclub on Mitchell Street.

The three female victims aged 20, 20 and 21 were alone when they were allegedly approached by a male or group of males offering to buy them drinks.

A short time after accepting the drinks the victims reported feeling disorientated and their condition began to deteriorate. Two of the females were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance.

Police are currently investigating all three incidents and are calling for anyone who may have had the same experience or who may have information in relation to the possible offenders to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police advise the public to watch their drinks at all times, never leave a drink unattended, do not share drinks, only accept drinks from people that are trustworthy and do not consume drinks that taste strange or may have changed in colour.

Duty Superintendent Del Jones urges Territorians to take extra care when socialising at licensed premises.

"If you're planning a night out always stay with a good friend, some one you can trust"

"Never accept drinks from strangers or leave your drink unattended and look after your mates when you're out on the town" she said.
