Police step up campaign to locate missing Darwin River woman Karen Margaret Kelly

Police

The 46-year-old Mrs Kelly was last seen leaving her home in Darwin River on the afternoon of 18 April 2010.

Major Crime Unit Detective Sergeant Sonia KENNON said fears were growing over the fate of the missing woman, who failed to arrive at a friend's house after telephoning her just after 1.00pm to say that she was on her way.

"The drive should only have taken Mrs Kelly less than 20 minutes," Detective Kennon said.

"She has left her home and simply vanished.

"We need to locate her green-coloured 2001 Toyota Corolla Hatchback with its distinctive NT registration plate '700'.

"We believe that if we can locate this vehicle we will know what has become of Mrs Kelly," she said.

Mrs Kelly's husband Darren and sons Adrian and Jamie have also appealed for anyone who may have information about her whereabouts or fate to come forward and tell police.

"We're extremely worried now that she may have come to harm," Detective Kennon said.

"If you know anything, if you've seen her car, please call the police."

Detective Kennon said Mrs Kelly, who may go by her maiden name Brook, is described as Caucasian, of slim build, approximately 171 cm tall with shoulder length dark brown hair and green eyes and was last seen wearing a black denim skirt and a white top with a floral motif.

Last month, her daughter, Ashleigh Brook, who lives in Melbourne, also appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

"We love you and miss you and just want to know that you're OK," she said.
