Pedestrian Struck - Winnellie

A 35-year-old woman has been cautioned for walking without due care after being struck by a vehicle on the Stuart Highway overnight.

Darwin City Police attended the scene where it is believed the woman who was intoxicated at the time was walking on the outbound lane of the Stuart Highway when she was struck by a Toyota Camry.

The 29-year-old female driver visiting Australia from Taiwan attempted to stop and swerve however collided with the woman, causing the windscreen to shatter.

St John Ambulance attended the scene and conveyed the injured woman to Royal Darwin Hospital; she has since been released.

No charges will be laid against the driver.
