Pedestrian struck - Ludmilla

Police

A 48-year-old woman remains in Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious but stable condition after a crash that occurred in Ludmilla at 6:45 pm last night.

The incident occurred when a 22-year-old female riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling inbound along Bagot Road struck the woman as she attempted to cross the road.

As a result of the crash, a 33-year-old male, driving a silver Toyota Hilux, stopped to render assistance. At this time a 17-year-old male riding a blue and orange Honda motorcycle has collided with the rear of the four wheel drive, becoming wedged under the vehicle.

Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance attended the scene. St John's paramedics conveyed the pedestrian and both motorcyclists to hospital for treatment. Both riders have since been released.

Territory Duty Superintendent Nouvelle Reed said it was very fortunate no one was fatally injured in the crash.

"I urge everyone to drive with caution at all times on Territory roads and pay special attention to the likelihood of pedestrians in that area," she said.

Police are investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the event and urge anyone with information to contact police on 131 444.
