Pedestrian Fatal - Parap

The Northern Territory road toll now stands at 44 after a 30-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on the Stuart Highway overnight.

Police, Fire and Emergency Services were called to the scene near the Parap Road turnoff at approximately 09:55 pm.

The 77-year-old driver of the Toyota Camry which struck the male pedestrian stopped immediately and attempted to assist the man.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital by St Johns Ambulance. The man died at 1.30 am as a direct result of his injuries.

The driver tested negative to alcohol and told Police that he had not seen the man.

Police investigations are continuing.
