A 22-year-old male remains in a stable condition in hospital after being struck by a vehicle at 7:30 pm last night.

A 43-year-old male was driving a Holden Rodeo outbound along Dickward Drive when a 22-year-old male appeared in front of him, subsequently striking him with the car.

Police and St John Ambulance members attended the scene, conveying the victim to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The driver was subjected to a road side breath test, returning a negative result.

Investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing however at this stage, police state the victim was running down the centre of the outbound lane when he was struck.

It is expected that the victim will be released from hospital within the next 24 hours.
