Party Safe

Police

In preparation for the Anzac Day long weekend Police would like to take the opportunity to remind everyone of the Party Safe service available through the NT Police.

It is important to follow a few simple steps to ensure your party is enjoyable and safe for all involved.

Register your party with NT Police.
Inform neighbours in advance and provide a phone number in case they wish to contact you.
Make entry by invitation only.
Pre arrange travel to and from the party.
Restrict the supply of full strength beers, champagne, wines and spirits and supply lots of non alcoholic drinks.
Provide food.

On Saturday, April 10, gatecrashers attended a party in Howard Springs where two men were injured as a result of a fight.

It is alleged an uninvited group attended the Howard Springs residence and were asked to leave when a verbal altercation broke out. A fight proceeded to take place before two 23-year-old males received slash wounds to their body.

The party was not registered with Police.

The men declined to make a formal complaint in relation to the incident and were treated at Royal Darwin Hospital for lacerations.

Registering your party with Police will allow members to unobtrusively monitor the event and will enable members to react as quickly as possible if trouble should occur; minimising the risk of similar incidents occurring.

For more information in relation to Party Safe you can pick up a registration form from your local Police Station or online at http://www.pfes.nt.gov.au.
