Offenders arrested – Unlawful entries

Police have arrested three males overnight in relation to three unlawful entries within commercial properties in the Berrimah, Palmerston and Humpty Doo area.

At around midnight, police received a report that a number of males had attempted to break into the Humpty Doo Tavern. It appears that they removed an air conditioner to gain entry to the premises, however fled the scene after being disturbed by the caretaker.

Police received another report after 1:00 am, as alarms sounded at the Berrimah Supermarket.

It is believed the offenders smashed the front window to gain access and once inside, smashed a glass fridge and stole a quantity of alcohol before fleeing the area.

At 1:40 am police attended the Palmerston Golf Club after members received reports of an attempted unlawful entry.

A short time later, and after viewing CCTV footage, three males aged 16,23 and 27 were arrested at a location in Berrimah and remain in police custody whilst the matters are investigated.

Territory Duty Superintendent Dean Moloney said this was a great result for all members involved.

"Numerous police were involved in locating these offenders and with the assistance of CCTV cameras; we were able to apprehend the offenders within a short space of time.

"These cameras make our jobs a lot easier as it is yet another tool we have in our arsenal against crime" he said.
