Nine drink drivers overnight – Northern Territory

Police



The most disappointing was a 32-year-old Tennant Creek man who was stopped by police for the purpose of a random breath test and provided a breath analysis reading of .216%. He has been charged with high range drink driving and driving unlicensed.
A 22-year-old man was also apprehended in Tennant Creek by police after he was seen travelling on the wrong side of the road, he was subjected to a road side breath test to which he provided a positive result. He was arrested for high range drink diving after providing a breath analysis reading of .211%.

In Alice Spring a 25-year-old female was apprehended just before 8:00 pm after she was found to be driving along Schwarz Drive with a blood alcohol level of .128%. She was charged with medium range drink driving and driving whilst disqualified.

A 16-year-old male was arrested for driving unlicensed and with a blood alcohol content of .117% after he was stopped by police in Sadadeen at approximately 2:00 am.

A 37-year-old male will be summonsed in relation to low range drink driving after he was stopped by police just before 5:30 pm and provided a positive breath analysis reading of .054%.

In Darwin an 18-year-old male was stopped by police on the Stuart Highway in Berrimah for the purpose of a random breath test at 1:20 am. He provided a breath analysis reading of .120% and has been charged with medium range drink driving.

A 32-year-old male has been charged with driving with an expired licence and medium range drink driving after providing a positive reading of .082% at approximately 8:30 pm in Jingili.
A 24-year-old male learner driver was apprehended by police in Casuarina for the purposes of a random breath test and provided a breath analysis reading of .056%.
Police are appalled that drivers continue to show no consideration for the well published dangers of drink driving and the great risk they pose to the community by getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol.
