Multiple ATM Thefts

Police

The Commanders Tactical Team are investigating a number of thefts from ATM's in the rural area.
Between midnight on Friday 03 September 2010 and 7.00 am on Saturday 04 September 2010, businesses' in Howard Springs and Berry Springs have been unlawfully entered.
In each business an ATM was the target. An undetermined amount of cash has been stolen from the ATM's.

Do not have the ATM on display from a public location when the business is closed;
Place signs on the ATM informing customers that "No cash kept in this ATM after business hours";
Where an ATM is in sight from a public place, remove the money cassettes and leave the ATM open so that potential thieves will see there is nothing to gain;
Ensure there is a working monitored alarm on the business and the ATM;
Ensure the ATM is either well lit or
Clear ATM's daily.
Detective Sergeant Andy Bedwell from the Commanders Tactical Team said, "ATMs in general may present themselves as an attractive prospect for potential thieves. Business owners can take simple crime prevention steps that will reduce the reward (theft of money) for the thieves."
Police are seeking assistance in relation to the unlawful entries and subsequent theft from ATM's that occurred overnight. If you have any information, please call police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
