Motor Vehicle Accident – Maningrida

Police



It is alleged that at around 11:30pm on Friday night, six males have left Maningrida in a white Toyota Landcruiser travelling towards Oenpelli Road, with two passengers travelling in the front seat, and three in the back seat.

It is believed that 24-year-old driver of the vehicle lost control when approaching a down-hill right hand turn and the vehicle has rolled approximately four times before coming to rest on it's wheels. One of the occupants who was in the rear passengers seat has fallen out of the vehicle through a window.

A short time after the accident they have attempted to drive back to Maningrida however the vehicle has caught on fire and the rear left tyre became shredded.

A passing motorist has stopped to assist and has subsequently taken all occupants to the Maningrida clinic.

The driver and two passengers aged 25 and 16 were flown to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

Maningrida Police will be interviewing the driver of the vehicle when he returns to Maningrida later this week.
