Two males reported missing after they left the Ngukurr community on Tuesday have been found.

An air and ground search was launched after police received a report from the community that the pair, aged 14 and 21, intended walking to Numbulwar, 175 kilometres north-east of Ngukurr.

Concerns were raised by members of the community, especially in light of extensive flooding in the area following heavy rain.

Police located the pair at around 11am today after searching neighbouring outstations by helicopter. The males were found at Ganiyarrang outstation approximately 60 kilometres north-east of Ngukurr.

This is a timely reminder that people should carefully consider the need to travel in regions which are affected by significant local flooding.
