Missing elderly woman found - Lajamanu

The 73-year-old woman that was reported missing to police yesterday afternoon has been found.

The woman's family reported her missing at approximately 5:00 pm after it was said that she hadn't returned after going for a walk with her dogs.

She was last seen heading towards Hookers creek.

Members from Lajamanu and Kalkaringi Police, NT Emergency Service, Central Land Council and approximately 100 community members searched until 2:00 am.

The search resumed at first light this morning and at approximately 7:15 am, police received a report from her family that she had been located nearby, safe and well.

Territory Duty Superintendent Rob Farmer thanked everyone involved in the search effort.

"Police, NT Emergency Service and Central Land Council all worked together with numerous people from the community in a bid to return this woman to her family, safe and sound.

"Vehicles of all descriptions were utilised throughout the search and I am pleased to a report a very positive outcome and I thank everyone for their efforts" he said.
