MEDIA RELEASE - Missing person - Palmerston - Update

He was last seen on Bonson Terrace heading towards Tamarind Road and could have possibly caught a bus.

NT Police are concerned for the welfare Mr Mercer who suffers from dementia and is not believed to know any persons in the Northern Territory.

Due to his dementia, Mr Mercer may come across disoriented, believing that he is in Mt Isa. Mr Mercer is known to 'wander' and will associate with anyone that will talk to him.

Mr Mercer is described as a:
71-year-old male
Approximately 175 centimetres tall
Approximately 60 kilograms
Skinny build
Short grey hair
Blue eyes - one eye is glass
No front teeth

He was last seen wearing a long sleeved red and white checkered shirt, green knee length shorts and silver runners with black socks.

Mr Mercer has caught buses in the past and his whereabouts is not limited to the Palmerston area.

The Territory Response Section is currently conducting search patrols of bushland surrounding Palmerston.

Police urge anyone that may have seen Mr Mercer, or anyone who may have information which could assist police with their enquiries to call them on 131 444.
