Marine Incident - Timber Creek

Police

At about 9:20pm on Saturday police were alerted to an incident near Timber Creek, where it is believed a man was injured by a propeller after falling out of his vessel.

It is believed two men aged 41 & 45-years-old fell over board near Pelican Point on the Victoria River after their boat became unstable; both men spent a short time in the water before climbing back aboard.

The vessel then experienced mechanical problems and was unable to be driven back to the boat ramp.

A passer by picked the men up and began to transfer them back to Big Horse Boat Ramp, before being met by a Police boat on the water. Police conveyed the men the rest of the way where the men were conveyed to Timber Creek Medical Clinic.

One man received treatment for injuries to his back and hip which he received after coming into contact with the propeller while in the water.

OIC of Timber Creek Police Dean McKei says "this was a successful rescue and the men are lucky to have escaped with out further injury. The incident was a good example of good coordination and communication between police and members of the public".
