Police

NT Police are investigating an incident between two vessels on Darwin Harbour.

The incident occurred at about 7:50 pm on Monday 19 April north west of the remains of the Iron Ore Wharf when a 19 metre charter boat with 40 passengers on board and a 50 metre commercial barge glanced off each other.

Sergeant Glenn McPhee from the Marine and Fisheries Enforcement Section said there were no injuries reported from this incident and only minor damage sustained to the charter boat.

NT Police and the NT Marine Safety Branch are conducting a coordinated investigation into this incident to determine all the factors involved.

Both the NT Police and the NT Marine Safety Branch remind all persons using Territory waterways, both commercial and recreational, to take all due care and remain vigilant to ensure that close calls such as this can be avoided.
