Localised flooding - Jabiru

Police

Members report that they are currently experiencing large spring tides in the area, subsequently causing localised flooding due to the recent heavy rainfall.

The Wildman River, Alligator Rivers, Flying Fox Creek crossings are prone to having water backed up across the Arnhem Highway and Barramundi Crossing along the Kakadu Highway and are currently experiencing up to 40 cm's of water across the roads.

Sergeant Roger Ilett, OIC of the Jabiru Police Station urges those travelling through these areas to be extra cautious.

"I advise anyone travelling within the area over the next five days to check the tide times constantly, as the large springs tides will impede the flood waters from flowing out to sea for up to six hours.

"Conventional vehicles may have difficulty continuing their journey due to the depth of the water" he said.
