Light aircraft crash landing - Jabiru

Police

Jabiru Police were called to the Jabiru Airstrip at about 3:00 pm yesterday after receiving reports of a light aircraft in trouble.

The privately owned single engine Lancair 4 was flying over an escarpment in the vicinity of Jabiru when the aircraft experienced engine difficulties. The 64-year-old male pilot immediately changed direction and headed back to Jabiru airstrip.

The engine lost power and the pilot made an emergency landing at the air strip, landing heavily on its front wheel which collapsed on impact.

The pilot and his three passengers received no injuries as a result of landing.
