NT Police and the Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance at a large grass fire in the rural area. The fire is currently threatening property between Hicks Road Girraween and Callistemon Road Howard Springs. Residents are urged to prepare to protect their block if safe to do so or evacuate immediately The following roads have been affected by the fire and are not open to the public. Hicks Road Sittella Road Callistemon Road Little John Road A section of Whitewood Road Watling Road Police urge members of the public to stay out of the area. The evacuation point is the oval at Howard Springs Primary School on Whitewood Road. Updates will be provided as they become available.
