Joint Training Exercise – Marine and Fisheries, NT Emergency Services and AeroRescue

Police

The NT Police Marine and Fisheries Enforcement Section (MFES) along with volunteers from the Northern Territory Emergency Services (NTES) will be participating in a joint exercise with the Aero Rescue Australian Marine Safety Authority (AMSA) aircraft 'Dornier' for five days of intensive training, dropping search and rescue stores as a part of a number of simulated exercises.

The exercise will take place on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 May, and from Thursday 27 until Saturday 29 May and will take place in seas to the North of Darwin.

The NT AMSA aircraft is permanently based in Darwin and is a dedicated 24/7 search and rescue aircraft.

MFES Senior Sergeant Stephen Martin said, "The exercise is of great value to the NTPFES and working together with the AMSA rescue aircraft will only further strengthen our working relationship and our interoperability in the search and rescue environment"
