Joint operation drugs arrest –Alice Springs

Three men have been arrested after Northern Territory and South Australian police executed a search warrant at Amata in a joint operation yesterday (Tuesday)

Police from the Alice Springs Drug Intelligence Unit and the Dog Operations Unit went to the South Australian community to assist Amata Police in the execution of the warrant. They located 16 bags of Cannabis with a combined weight of 215 grams, three two-litre bottles of spirits, a .308 Ruger rifle, a .22 Hornet rifle and an air rifle.

The three men aged 22, 25 and 43, were arrested and taken into custody to the Amata Police Station.

The 25-year-old was charged with supplying Cannabis, firearms offences and possessing alcohol on APY lands. The 22-year-old man was charged with possessing Cannabis and possessing alcohol on APY lands. They were both refused bail and transported to Ernabella Court where they appeared yesterday.

The 43-year-old man was also charged with possessing Cannabis and possessing alcohol on APY lands and was bailed to appear at the Amata court today.
