Police are investigating an incident in which a 26-year-old woman was indecently assaulted in Alice Springs at the weekend.

The victim told police she was walking along Gap Road around 4pm on Saturday when a male in a blue car pulled over and asked her what she was doing. When she said she was looking for work, he offered to help and she got into the man's car. He then drove to Len Kittle Drive where he indecently assaulted her before she was able to get out of the car and run for help.

The woman was picked up by another motorist who was parked near the Stuart Highway and taken to the Police Station where she reported the incident to police.

Police investigations led to the seizure of a blue Holden Commodore. No arrests have yet been made, however, police are appealing to any witnesses to phone 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
