House Fire - Wagaman

Police

Northern Territory Fire investigators have returned to the scene of a house fire today to try to determine the exact cause of the blaze.

Police, Fire and Emergency Services were called to the Wagaman residence about 8 o'clock last night, after a blaze broke out in the laundry area of the house.

Initial investigations have revealed an electrical fault in a washing machine may have started the fire.

Neighbours used garden hoses to try to extinguish the blaze before fire crews arrived and brought it under control.
Damage was limited to the laundry area and the ceiling of a bedroom.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

One of the neighbours who tried to put out the fire was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by St John's Ambulance members.

Investigations are continuing.
