Hit and Run - Karama

Police

Police are calling for public assistance after a hit and run incident in Karama overnight.

Police received the report at about 7:30 pm after a member of the public located the 60-year-old male victim lying on the road at the intersection of Bauer Crescent and Manunda Terrace.

The complainant rendered first aid until police and St John Ambulance arrived on the scene.

It appears the man was attempting to cross Manunda Terrace when he was hit by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

Police have been advised a white Taxi, possibly a mini van, was travelling in the area at the time of the incident.



The victim remains at Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.

Members of the Major Crash Investigation Unit are at the scene today conducting further investigations into exact circumstances surrounding the crash.

Detective Senior Sergeant, Crispin Gargan urges any one with further information to contact police.

"We are calling for anyone who witnessed the crash or may have further information to contact us on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000" he said.
