Hit and run incident - Palmerston

Police

Police were alerted to two hit and run incidents in Palmerston over night.

It is believed a male driving a Toyota Corolla drove into two18-year-old females outside Arch Rivals at about 10:50pm last night. Police and Saint John Ambulance personnel attended and conveyed the two women to Royal Darwin Hospital. One of the victims was released this morning and the other remains at RDH in a stable condition.

Police attended the scene and conducted patrols of the area.

It is believed the offender fled the scene towards the Palmerston Post Office and a short time later collided with a third person. It is believed a 22-year-old man was hit by the car outside on Fiveash Lane. The victim received injuries to his leg and was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by ambulance where he remains in a stable condition.

The vehicle involved has been located by Police and the alleged driver was later found nearby deceased. Major Crime detectives are investigating and a file is being prepared for the Coroner in relation to the circumstances of this incident.
