Police received a report from a motorist travelling outbound on Larapinta Drive just before 11pm last night. The driver told police she was travelling behind an older model maroon Ford Falcon sedan which was driving erratically. The vehicle then pulled over and a small child got out of the vehicle and began walking eastwards. The driver of the Ford Falcon then did a u-turn and followed the child for a short distance before the vehicle hit the victim. A man then got out of the vehicle and dragged the child back into the car. The car then sped off outbound along Larapinta Drive.

The witness told police the vehicle possibly had no registration number plates and one headlight was not working. The vehicle has a spoiler on the boot.

Police from Hermannsburg and Alice Springs patrolled the area but have not been able to locate the vehicle nor the child. Police are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to phone 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
