Two Ampilatwatja men have been arrested overnight after attempting to flee police on the Sandover Highway near Alpurrurulam. At approximately 10.00 pm police received a report of a vehicle driving erratically within the Alpurrurulam Community. Six persons were apprehended by police after they ran from the vehicle in question. A search of the vehicle located an unsecured .22 rifle which was seized by Police. Whilst conducting the vehicle search a Police Officer was struck to the face a number of times by one of the passengers. The passenger has been charged with the following offences: Assault a member of the Police Force Hinder a member of the Police Force Resist Police in execution of duty The driver returned a blood alcohol content reading of 0.255.
