A 24 year old man has been arrested in connection with a glassing incident outside a Darwin nightclub early this morning.

The 27 year old male victim is currently in Royal Darwin Hospital undergoing treatment for cuts to his left eye.

Police say the incident occurred outside the Hot Potato night spot on Mitchell Street just after 1am.

It's alleged the offender has struck the victim to the face with a handled glass mug.

The offender was arrested soon at around 4am and has been charged with aggravated assault and being armed with an offensive weapon.

Duty Superintendent Nouvelle Reed said police would like to thank the members of the public for their assistance in helping to locate the offender.

"Intoxicated or not, people really need to start taking responsibility for their actions as these incidents often effect people in both the short and long term," she said.
