Fatality – Alice Springs - Update #1 - 4457328

Police

Police are continuing their investigations into the fatal single motor vehicle roll-over that occurred at around 9:30 am on Friday morning.

It is alleged that the victim, a 21-year-old old male, was travelling along the Stuart Highway 23 km's north of Stuarts Well when the vehicle has left the road and rolled several times.

The male was thrown from the vehicle and was located by a passing motorist, who notified police.

Police attended, however the male was declared deceased at the scene.

It was later established that the vehicle involved in the crash had been stolen from a residential property in Alice Springs earlier that morning.

Sergeant Conan Robertson from the Southern Traffic Operations Unit said that this was another timely reminder to wear seatbelts.

"Had this male buckled up, there is a chance this crash wouldn't have ended so tragically.

"It takes only a moment, however it can save a life" he said.
