A man has died following a single vehicle crash on the Lasseter Highway this morning.

Police received a report just before 11.30am today that a Toyota Landcruiser towing a caravan rolled approximately 10 kilometres west of Erldunda on the Lasseter Highway.

The 60-year-old male driver died at the scene. A 64-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was taken to Erldunda Roadhouse to be transported to Alice Springs Hospital with chest injuries. The couple were believed to be from Victoria.

Police from Imampa and members of the Southern Traffic Unit from Alice Springs as well as an NT Fire and Rescue crew from Yulara attended the scene. Police are asking motorists to travel with care in the area of the crash.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.

The death brings the Territory road toll to 29 compared to 16 for the same period last year.
